Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers to Sponsor Toledo ARCA Race

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), Toledo Speedway, and the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers announced today that the 25-location Ford dealer group will act as the title sponsor of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards event scheduled to take place September 11 and 12 at Toledo Speedway.

"The Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers are proud to support this exciting family event and look forward to seeing Ford take the checkered flag," said Phil Brondes, president of Brondes Ford Toledo and chairman of the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers.

The 200-lap, 100-mile Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200 will anchor the traditional fall ARCA weekend at the half-mile oval at 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, September 12, and will be preceded by ARCA Racing Series practice and Menards Pole Qualifying on Saturday, September 11. The ARCA Fan Fest, a recurring hit with Toledo Speedway guests, will take place over both days.

The dealer group's marketing package also includes presenting sponsorship for the United States Auto Club-sanctioned Ford Focus Midget Series race on Saturday. The popular grassroots series will contribute to the wide variety of racing experiences at the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers event.

"The Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers have provided us the opportunity to present a great entertainment package for race fans in the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan regions," said Mark Gundrum, vice president of marketing and communications for ARCA. "The dealer group's partnership gives fans the chance to access an exciting, competitive event just by visiting any of the participating locations and supporting the sponsorship."

Fans in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan are encouraged to visit any participating Ford dealer and test drive a new Ford vehicle to receive a four-pack of tickets to the September 11 events at Toledo Speedway, which includes ARCA Racing Series practice and Menards Pole Qualifying, as well as the Ford Focus Midget Series race. Each person who participates in the test drive promotion will be automatically registered for a chance to win a pair of tickets and hospitality access for the September 12 race. One lucky grand prize winner will receive the chance to wave the green flag to start the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200 on Sunday afternoon.

Ford's blue oval is almost certain to be a contender on track in the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200, as Chris Buescher led 126 of 200 laps to drive the No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford to victory at the track in May. Frank Kimmel, the nine-time ARCA champion whose name tops numerous lists in the ARCA history books, currently leads the point standings in the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford and holds the ARCA record with nine victories at Toledo Speedway.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards features 20 events at 17 tracks on its 2010 schedule. The series has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 racetracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as left- and right-turn street and road courses.

Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.

Off to the Fairgrounds: ARCA Moving To Springfield Dirt Mile

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - The allure of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, in addition to nearly 60 years of history as the base for competition for seasoned and developmental drivers alike, includes the wide variety of surfaces the series reaches every year.

Superspeedways visited by the ARCA Racing Series are often the most recognized stops on the schedule for teams and fans, and short tracks are the hallmarks on which the series was born and continues to thrive. Even road courses have taken a strong footing in recent years, with four of the series' 14 road races taking place in the past three seasons alone.

Dirt racing, however, is where the ARCA Racing Series separates itself. The series remains the highest major level of stock car racing to compete on dirt, and this weekend's Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill. will be the series' first of two dirt races this season and the 329th dirt event of 1,307 total races in the series' history. The race serves a feature event for the Illinois State Fair, which this week celebrates its 158th year.

The 100-lap, 100-mile Allen Crowe 100 is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Central (2 Eastern) on Sunday, August 22, with live timing and scoring and live audio coverage presented by ARCA Nation at ARCARacing.com. 27 previous ARCA races have been held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds; points leader Frank Kimmel (No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford) is the all-time win leader in Springfield with seven victories between 2000 and 2008. Kimmel leads Craig Goess (No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Toyota) by 10 points in the series standings, and the top seven drivers are separated by just 105 points in what remains a thrilling championship battle.

The race is named in honor of Springfield native Allen Crowe, who died from injuries sustained in a sprint car accident at New Bremen (Ohio) Speedway in 1963. Past winners include A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Ken Schrader, Ramo Stott, Don White, Roger McCluskey, Bob Keselowski, Jack Bowsher, Bobby Isaac, Dean Roper and Curtis Turner.

The lone practice is scheduled for 9 a.m. Central, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell - which has produced 11 different pole winners in 12 qualifying sessions this season - taking place at 11 a.m. Live audio coverage and live timing and scoring of all events will be available on ARCARacing.com.

The Allen Crowe 100 is the 14th race of 20 this season and the third of four in pursuit of the Bill France Four Crown, the season-within-a-season contest which rewards ARCA Racing Series drivers for success on a diverse slate of tracks. The Four Crown schedule is comprised completely of the ARCA Racing Series races scheduled for August, with the final race to be held at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway on August 27. Joey Coulter (No. 16 Rip It Energy Fuel/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Chevrolet) leads Tom Hessert and Frank Kimmel by 30 points in the Four Crown standings on the strength of his August 7 win at the 0.4-mile Berlin (Mich.) Raceway and a second-place finish on August 15 at the Thunderbolt Raceway road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

The ARCA Racing Series features a number of drivers whose backgrounds are in dirt racing, and among the most prominent are Steve Arpin (No. 55 Mike's Hard Lemonade Toyota) and Patrick Sheltra (No. 60 Recycling Services/Ferguson Pipe Dodge). Arpin, of Fort Frances, Ont., near Minnesota, raced mini-Sprint cars early in his career before winning two WISSOTA Modified championships at Emo (Ont.) Speedway, in 1999 and 2001. Arpin rose to prominence in Modified cars in the United States throughout the decade, and won the Minnesota Modified national championship and USAC Silver Crown Series Rookie of the Year awards in 2008.

Arpin has won twice this season, at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, and Sheltra hopes to join him on a list which includes 12 different winners in 13 races. Recent results indicate Sheltra's opportunity to be as good as any. The Indiantown, Fla. native has a background in dirt Late Model racing and has followed through with success in the ARCA Racing Series, finishing third in both 2007 and 2009 at the Springfield track.

Ron Cox, a former full-time competitor in the ARCA Racing Series, finished second one year ago and will enter the No. 23 Chevrolet for owner Wayne Hixson. Cox and Sheltra are the highest-returning finishers from last season's race. A.J. Fike, who finished fourth and resides in Galesburg, Ill., will return in the No. 10 Ford for owner Andy Hillenburg. Arpin finished fifth last season, and Will Kimmel (eighth in 2009) and Frank Kimmel (ninth) will also return from last season's top 10.

Other Illinois drivers expected to race are Kelly Kovski of Springfield (No. 17 Ford), Mark Littleton of Arenzville (No. 5 Chevrolet), and Kyle Logue of Cisco (No. 8 Chevrolet) in what will be his first start in the series.

Robb Brent Takes First ARCA Victory in Weis Markets 125

(LONG POND, Pa.) - Robb Brent added his name to the long list of first-time winners in the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards season, driving away from the field to win the Weis Markets 125 at Pocono Raceway by 2.844 seconds over Dakoda Armstrong.

Brent and the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dodge seized the lead on Lap 36 and did not look back over the final 15 laps, holding off a challenge from Armstrong, the winner at Talladega this spring, and Craig Goess, winner of the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 at Pocono in June.

Brent became the 10th different winner in 11 series races this season, and the ninth driver to win his first race this season.

"I am just thrilled to death. Everyone kept winning and I was like, 'When's it my turn?' We've had some great cars and just don't have the finishes to show for it. Today, everything worked exactly right for us," said Brent, whose previous best finish was a runner-up result on the road course at Palm Beach International Raceway in February. "We got our yellow when we needed it, and we had the green flag running when we needed it."

Brent reflected on the series' last race at Pocono, when he finished one lap down but felt he had the fastest car on the track.

"If you actually watched the whole thing last time, I think I had the best car here. But we got caught a lap down pitting and we were on the tail end and we drove away from them. I think we were the best car here, and we just needed a chance to show it," Brent said.

"The car was so good, especially on the long run. I just bided my time because I saw I was reeling it in. We kept catching traffic a little bit. I knew we'd have time."

Mikey Kile was leading the field at the race's halfway point and continued to do so when debris on the track yielded the race's second caution on Lap 31, sending the race's contenders to pit road for a mandatory pit stop. Series officials instituted the mandate in consideration of the race's shortened 50-lap distance, down from 80 in June.

Despite Kile's lead, however, Brent had already started to make his move. After starting 11th, the 23-year-old from Shelby Township, Mich. battled to fourth place by Lap 15, taking advantage of his vast road course experience on the Pennsylvania superspeedway that with three markedly different corners occasionally resembles a road circuit.

"I really love road courses. They're my first passion, and I think this resembles a road course a little bit. I felt fast from my first lap here in 2008. You get a different corner every time, and that tunnel turn, a lot of guys dive in too hard, but I got some nice flow going into and coming out of it to really gain on people," said Brent, who has finished seventh or higher in each of six starts at Pocono. "Whatever it is, I just really like this place."

Frank Kimmel, the pole winner and leader for the first 20 laps, encountered lapped traffic, allowing Kile, Goess, and Brent to gain ground on his lead. Kile and Goess drove around Kimmel on Lap 21, and it was only four laps later that Brent found himself in third place by also passing the nine-time ARCA Racing Series champion. Brent supplanted Goess in second place on Lap 28, and moved within just more than one-tenth of a second of Kile by Lap 30, driving around the lapped car of Will Kimmel to put himself closer to the point.

When the caution flew, Kile's Venturini Motorsports crew struggled to jack up the right side of his Toyota, and Goess took the lead off of pit road, with Brent remaining in second.

The ensuing restart on Lap 36 saw lapped traffic in front of the leaders, and Brent navigated through the tangle just better than Goess, taking the lead before Sean Corr spun in Turn 2 to force another caution. Armstrong, too, had taken advantage of the lapped cars, and moved into second.

Brent led the field to the green flag on Lap 39 and did not relent, expanding his lead from under one second the next time past the start/finish line to 2.174 seconds by Lap 45. Brent coasted to the finish, extending his advantage all the way to 3.24 seconds after Lap 49 before cementing his final margin.

Armstrong's second-place finish was the fifth top-five finish of his young ARCA Racing Series career, and his best finish since winning at Talladega Superspeedway in April.

"It was a great run for my guys. We were a little worried after qualifying 13th. It's not what you hope for. I thought we had a good race car, and it was way better than I thought it'd be," Armstrong said. "We made no changes under pits and got out front. I knew track position was going to be pretty key with this race being so short."

Armstrong relished the chance to share the Saturday card with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, which had raced earlier in the day in its first visit to the 2.5-mile triangular track.

"You know, it's always good to even be out here behind the (NASCAR Sprint) Cup guys and the trucks when they run and have that atmosphere, and it's good exposure for the ARCA Racing Series and all of these drivers," he said.

Goess finished third after leading three laps late in the race, but had hoped to back up his spring victory with a better finish.

"I'm disappointed in third place, so I guess that's a good thing. We picked up some points so that was a positive for us today," said Goess, who moved to within 30 points of Justin Marks for the ARCA Racing Series standings lead. "We missed out on a lot of practice, and switched out motors, transmissions, and the rear end because we weren't happy with the way it felt.

Tom Hessert ended the race fourth after a thrilling three-wide battle late in the race with Marks and Frank Kimmel. Marks preserved his position atop the ARCA Racing Series point standings with a fifth-place finish, and Patrick Sheltra rebounded from separate tire and transmission issues to finish sixth after falling outside the top 20.

Kimmel finished seventh after what was his best recent bid to win for the first time since September 2008, and Kile ended eighth. Bryan Silas and Brandon McReynolds completed the top 10.

Three cautions slowed the race for 12 laps, and the 50-lap event finished in 57 minutes, 32 seconds, at an average speed of 130.359 mph.

SPEED™ Extends ARCA Racing Series Coverage Into 2011

(LONG POND, Pa.) - Officials from SPEED and the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) have announced an extension of the current broadcast rights agreement that calls for a minimum of 10 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards events to be televised on SPEED live and/or same-day delayed in 2011.

SPEED will drop the green flag on its 15th season of ARCA coverage at Daytona International Speedway with the 48th running of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 in February.

"We're pleased to announce today the extension of SPEED's broadcast rights agreement with ARCA for 2011," said Steve Craddock, senior vice president of production and programming for SPEED.

ARCA's relationship with SPEED reaches back to April 20, 1997, when the network (then Speedvision) covered the ARCA Racing Series race at Salem Speedway. Since then, SPEED has aired a total of 175 ARCA Racing Series events, with today's Weis Markets 125 from Pocono marking the 176th.

"ARCA and SPEED have invested a great deal over time in our long term relationship," said ARCA president Ron Drager. "We're very encouraged that SPEED will continue to be the television home for the ARCA Racing Series, and given the challenging economic climate our industry is working through, we're especially pleased to be able to make this 2011 announcement at the midway point of the current season."

This season, the first three ARCA broadcast races - at Daytona, Texas Motor Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway - enjoyed a 49 percent overall increase among households (1.16 vs. 0.78) and a 75 percent increase in the key demographic of men aged 35-54 years old (1.28 vs. 0.73) over equivalent races in 2009.

Racing star Danica Patrick's stock car debut highlighted ARCA's Daytona television coverage, as the 2.3 overall household rating was the highest in series history. The number also represented a network high, surpassed only by SPEED's annual coverage of the NASCAR All-Star Race from Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Among men aged 35-54, the 2.75 overall rating was the highest since the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drove a 2.93 rating for the 2005 season opener at Daytona.

"The ARCA Racing Series continues to have a meaningful place on the motorsports landscape," said SPEED president Hunter Nickell in a statement from the network. "With its front-page storylines from Daytona and its continued solid ratings performance, SPEED feels very comfortable moving forward with this extension and continuing the long-running relationship."

SPEEDTM, anchored by its popular and wide-ranging coverage of NASCAR, is the nation's first and only cable television network dedicated to automotive and motorcycle racing, performance and lifestyle. Now available in more than 80 million homes in North America, SPEED, a FOX Sports property, is among the industry leaders in interactive TV, video on demand, mobile initiatives and broadband services. Max Gresham Wins Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 at Mansfield

(MANSFIELD, Ohio) - Max Gresham had an opening, and had no choice but to take it. Gresham led the final 47 laps at Mansfield Motorsports Park to win the Tim Richmond Memorial 200 in just his third career ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards start.

"I'm overwhelmed with joy and happiness. It's awesome. We've had two great runs (sixth at Salem and 10th at Iowa) and here's a third one to cap it off," Gresham said while celebrating on track after the race. "There's been great work back at the shop, and this is a great deal for Gresham & Associates. I'm glad to come out here and rock the socks off of these guys."

Gresham, a 17-year-old from Griffin, Ga., pushed his No. 71 Gresham & Associates Toyota to the lead on Lap 138 of 200 when previous leader Chris Buescher's right front tire went flat, causing the driver to pull onto pit road. Buescher's No. 17 David Ragan Fan Club Ford had seemingly been the class of the field, and Roulo Brothers Racing appeared to be well on the way to another victory at an Ohio short track after winning at Toledo in May.

Buescher led the day's lone practice, easily won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell, and coasted to an easy lead over the first 64 laps. Joey Coulter, who started second, stayed there and helped Buescher create a two-car breakaway before Coulter's No. 16 Chevrolet was bumped by Josh Richards' No. 55 between Turns 3 and 4 on Lap 62. Coulter went to the wall, missing what appeared to be a prime opportunity at his first career win, and Gresham assumed the lead on the ensuing caution period.

The yellow flag stayed out far longer than expected, as Rob Jones had driven his No. 28 Chevrolet into Coulter as Coulter dropped down the banking, creating a longer delay. Gresham held the lead when the race went green again on Lap 80. Buescher, then sixth, bumped Frank Kimmel on Lap 83, seemed to move Justin Marks on Lap 85, passed Marks on Lap 86, and then moved within a car length of Chad McCumbee on Lap 87. Buescher passed McCumbee on Lap 89, and showed on the grid just over two seconds behind Gresham as that lap finished.

Meanwhile, Tom Hessert had steered his No. 77 Dodge to a very close third position, and the cars of Gresham, Buescher, and Hessert ran within a half-second of each other as the race reached its halfway point.

In the tight pack, Gresham showed the maturity of a driver with 17 years experience, not merely 17 years of age.

"I've been raised and trained to respect people and run with respect. I never mean to get into somebody, and that's every time I race. I feel confident to say I know what I'm doing," Gresham said.

Buescher finally reached Gresham for a pass on Lap 118, but would only hold the lead until his troublesome flat tire reared its ugly head just 20 laps later. He went several laps down but charged past several cars after exiting pit road to finish eighth.

"We were just racing hard. We had the best car. No doubt about it; everybody knows it. But it's just racing. You can't do a whole lot about it," Buescher said. "We were fast, and we led a lot of laps. The thing is, I had backed down. We were just rolling down the straightaway. It's just a tough day. What can you do? It's part of racing."

Buescher will enter his next ARCA Racing Series race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, a road course, on August 15. Gresham will return at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway on August 7.

Hessert and Goess each challenged for and traded the lead in the race's final 60 laps, but Gresham took the top spot with 48 to go and coasted to a 0.785-second victory over Goess and his No. 81 Toyota.

"A lot of the guys we're running for points with didn't have such a good night, and that can go either way with anybody," Goess said, referring to incoming points leader Justin Marks' 10th-place finish and Patrick Sheltra's 21st-place result. "We had some bad luck in the pits but we were able to fight back from it. The guys put together a good car. I just wish we could have had a long run."

Goess will enter the series' next race, at Pocono, as the track's most recent ARCA winner.

"I'm certainly going to be comfortable going there and hoping that we're going to have another good car. I feel like we will. If we can take what we learned from the last race (in June), maybe we'll even be a little bit faster," Goess said.

Frank Kimmel finished third in the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford for his fifth consecutive finish in the top six.

"It was just a clean run," Kimmel said. "The lapped traffic was pretty exciting. Some guys, I think, just didn't figure out they were supposed to be on the bottom. Other than that, we had some great racing. Dakoda (Armstrong) ran really well, and how about Tim George Jr.? He put together a really great race."

George ended the night in fourth and Armstrong finished fifth.

With another high finish, Kimmel is appearing to show the consistency that helped him to nine ARCA Racing Series championships between 1998 and 2007.

"The strategy is just to get the best finish with what you've got that night, and I think tonight we did. We'll go on from there," Kimmel said.

Chad McCumbee, Buescher, Hessert, Mikey Kile, and Marks rounded out the top ten.

Marks remains the series points leader, but saw his margin over second trimmed to 50. Goess is the new driver in second place, and Kimmel advanced to third. Sheltra dropped to fourth, and Hessert stands fifth at the season's halfway point.

The race slowed for five cautions, equaling 40 laps. Gresham led 110 laps, and Buescher followed with 83. Goess led five and Hessert led two. At an average speed of 75.491 mph and an elapsed time of one hour, 19 minutes, and 28 seconds, the race easily beat the 2009 mark of one hour, 39 minutes, and two seconds (60.586 mph).

The ARCA Racing Series returns to action in two weeks with the Weis Markets 125 at Pocono Raceway. On-track activity begins on Friday, July 30, with live timing and scoring and live audio coverage of practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell available at ARCARacing.com. The 50-lap, 125-mile race goes green at 3 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, July 31, with live television coverage provided by SPEED.

ARCA Racing Series Bringing Action Back to Mansfield

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - The ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, the Ohio-born, nationally-touring stock car series known for its versatility, will add another chapter to its history of short track racing in the Buckeye State this weekend.

Saturday will mark the second annual Tim Richmond Memorial 200 at Mansfield Motorsports Park, as well as the halfway point in the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season. The race is the first - and perhaps only - of the season at the historic half-mile facility.

Scheduled as the 10th of 20 races on the ARCA tour this season, the Tim Richmond Memorial 200 will begin at 8 p.m. Track activity begins at 2:30 p.m. with ARCA Racing Series practice, and continues at 5:30 p.m. with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell.

The event, which honors the late NASCAR great, ARCA race winner, and Ashland native Tim Richmond, will open to spectators at 12 p.m. and offer a complimentary perk unique to the series: free garage entry, allowing premium access to see the top ARCA drivers and teams, until 2 p.m.

Proximity to the drivers will not be limited to the early afternoon, though. An on-track autograph session featuring the entire ARCA Racing Series starting field will take place at 6:30 p.m.

The Tim Richmond Memorial 200 is the second trip to Mansfield for the ARCA Racing Series, a follow-up to the series' successful debut one year ago. Parker Kligerman led the final 103 laps last June to edge Joey Coulter and Chris Buescher and take the third of his series-leading nine wins in 2009.

Though Kligerman has moved on to the NASCAR Nationwide Series, his No. 77 car enters this week not only as the defending Mansfield champion, but as the most recent winner on the current ARCA tour. Tom Hessert drove the Cunningham Motorsports Dodge to a win at Iowa Saturday, beating runner-up Ty Dillon by 5.052 seconds, the largest margin of victory this season.

Coulter (No. 16 RipIt Energy Drink/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Chevrolet) and Buescher (No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford) are entered again this year, just eight weeks after the 17-year-old Buescher edged Coulter, 20, in a 100-mile race at Toledo Speedway for the first win of his career.

Points leader Justin Marks (No. 32 Construct Corps Dodge) will race with a special paint scheme to honor Richmond, and Patrick Sheltra (No. 60 Recycling Services/Ferguson Pipe Dodge), Craig Goess (No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Toyota), and nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel (No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford) are among the other top drivers entered. Numerous drivers are capable of winning, following a stretch of eight different winners and seven first-time winners in nine races.

Live audio broadcast coverage will air on the BAS Racing Network. Stations airing BAS's exclusive coverage of the season's 10th race include: Eagle 99.1 (WFRO-FM, Fremont); Eagle 93.7 (WQIO-FM, Mount Vernon); and FM100 Talks 100.1 (WNUY-FM, Fort Wayne, Ind.). The broadcast, led by noted Ohio motorsports voice DC Bash, will also be available on ARCARacing.com.

Tickets for the Tim Richmond Memorial 200 are available by calling Mansfield Motorsports Park at (419) 524-0183 or visiting Mansfield-Speedway.com.

Tom Hessert Wins Prairie Meadows 200

(NEWTON, Iowa) - Tom Hessert took charge early and drove to his first career ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards victory in the Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway, along the way giving Cunningham Motorsports its second win of 2010 and its second consecutive triumph at the central Iowa track.

Driving the No. 77 Cherry Hill Classics Dodge, Hessert started second and moved to the front on Lap 9, passing pole sitter Ty Dillon, who made his first career ARCA Racing Series start. The 24-year-old New Jersey native stayed in the lead until Max Gresham assumed the lead on Lap 58 following the evening's second caution.

Hessert would not relent even with Gresham in front; the two raced door-to-door around the 0.875-mile oval, creating one of the most exciting battles seen in recent races in the series.

Matt Crafton led for 28 laps through the middle of the race, but was no match for Hessert, who passed him on Lap 124. Only one lap led by Grant Enfinger during a caution period pit cycle kept Hessert from leading each of the final 77 laps, and Hessert coasted to a 5.052-second win over Dillon.

The win for Cunningham Motorsports matched the No. 77 team's result at Iowa from one year ago, when Parker Kligerman edged Austin Dillon, Ty's older brother, for the third of a stretch of four consecutive wins.

Hessert was pleased with his car throughout the night and had a good feeling that his first victory was in the works.

"It was incredible. From our first laps on the track, we had a really good car," said Hessert, who led 126 laps overall and each of the last 46. "We had a great qualifying run. The car was just so good in the long runs, as long as we could keep our track position and stay ahead of the guys on short runs.

"The car was wonderful, and I couldn't ask for anything more."

Dillon's finish matched the result he scored at Iowa this spring in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West combination race.

"I had a ball just learning the car. It's a lot different than what I've been running all year. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot," Dillon said. "The guys worked really hard on the car and we ended up with a pretty good piece."

Grant Enfinger finished third, proving an especially serious mettle for a part-time operation.

"I feel good about third," Enfinger said. "We struggled from the word 'Go' here. I don't know why it's hard for us to get a handle here. It was definitely all we had and about as fast as the car had been."

The race's average speed was the fastest since the series' debut at the track in 2006. At 105.627 mph and one hour, 39 minutes, and 27 seconds, Hessert's victory edged Kligerman's from one year ago by 20 seconds.

Hessert's Cunningham Motorsports teammate Dakoda Armstrong finished fourth, and Crafton took fifth. Frank Kimmel, who made his 400th career ARCA Racing Series start, ended the night in sixth place. The night started emotionally for Kimmel, whose family delivered a special starting command that allowed the nine-time champion to start his engine seconds before the rest of the field.

"This brought back a lot of great memories and helped me remember some special moments the last couple of weeks. (The command) was the most difficult thing to date, to get my wife to do that. She's not a public person and doesn't like to be in front of the camera or anything," Kimmel said.

"I was worried when they told me to start the motor that it wouldn't start, that the battery would be dead or something, but it fired up," he said. "To hear the kids say, 'Dad, start your engine' was pretty cool."

Casey Roderick, Craig Goess, Justin Marks, and Gresham completed the top ten.

Three drivers near the top of the series standings suffered early problems. Venturini Motorsports teammates Steve Arpin and Mikey Kile each lost a right front tire and hit the wall, and incoming points leader Patrick Sheltra had engine issues and was forced to retire after just 47 laps.

Arpin finished 28th, Sheltra was 29th, and Kile was 30th. Sheltra fell from the points lead, giving way to Marks for the top position through nine of 20 races. The result was surprising for a driver who had sped to the top of the final practice chart earlier in the afternoon.

"It just wasn't our night. I guess it's all a part of racing. My emotions are just all over the place right now because we've worked so hard to make this team a factor week in and week out," said Sheltra, who had finished in the top ten in each of eight races to start the season. "We did that again tonight, (but) just didn't receive the result we were looking for."

10 cars finished on the lead lap, and the race was slowed for only four cautions, an ARCA low at Iowa Speedway. Hessert was one of six leaders, and the race saw eight lead changes.

The ARCA Racing Series returns to action Saturday, July 17, in the Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 at Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park. Live timing and scoring and live audio broadcast coverage presented by ARCA Nation will be available online at ARCARacing.com at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Mikey Kile Takes First ARCA Win in Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan

(BROOKLYN, Mich.) - Mikey Kile had seen this race before. Six days ago, in fact, at Pocono. This time, the driver of the No. 25 Sears Auto Center/DieHard Toyota came up on the other side of the tale, winning the Racing for Wildlife 200 along the way.

Kile led the final 26 of 100 laps at Michigan International Speedway for his first career victory in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by RE/MAX and Menards, reversing the fortune - or misfortune - he had experienced in the hills of Pennsylvania just one race prior. The victory came in what was just Kile's 16th start in the series.

The 27-year-old from Louisiana was quick to thank his Venturini Motorsports crew, who worked diligently to prepare the car that had led 67 of 80 laps at Pocono, only to finish second when unlucky timing on a series of pit stops had its way.

"These guys got home at 3 in the morning on Sunday, and worked so hard to turn the motor around, just to have it ready to leave on Tuesday morning," Kile said. "I wanted to get this win for these guys more than anything. I'm speechless."

Craig Goess started from the pole and dominated, moving his No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Toyota to a lead of more than one second within two laps and over six seconds by the time the first of two caution flags came out on the race's 27th lap, the result of a blown front right tire on the No. 99 Ford of Josh Richards.

Goess continued to lead through the middle stages of the race and saw his advantage exceed four seconds. When he pitted on Lap 75, Kile assumed the lead. Goess, with his seemingly insurmountable lead, figured to retake the lead when Kile would later be forced to pit, but he could not predict Chase Mattioli's spinning of the No. 17 Ford off of Turn 4 on the race's 77th lap.

Kile was allowed to pit under the yellow flag just laps later, held the lead as the race restarted after 82 laps, and simply drove away from the field, winning by a margin of 4.637 seconds.

Almost unbelievably, the race had taken on a tone incredibly similar to the event of a week ago, but with the major players and their roles switched.

"The caution came out and I knew (Goess) pitted. Last week, when the caution came out, we didn't need it," Kile said. "This week, I said, 'Is that good or bad?' I heard, 'Man, it's like Christmas.' So I knew we'd be in good shape. We pitted, and then I saw the 81 starting on the tail end of the lead lap, right in front of us.

"I knew (Goess) and I were the class of the field, so with him there, I just raced my own race and hoped like heck we didn't get a caution at the end."

Joey Coulter made his No. 16 Rip It Energy Fuel/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Chevrolet one of just five cars on the lead lap for the last restart, and his strategy paid off with a second-place finish, the fourth of his career.

"My crew chief made some great calls and we got better on every stop. The last stop was the best the car felt all day," said Coulter, who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier in the week and also finished second at Toledo Speedway two races ago.

Patrick Sheltra continued his run of consistency, finishing third and nailing down his eighth consecutive top-10 finish to start the season. Sheltra remains the ARCA Racing Series points leader, a distinction he will carry to the series' next race at Iowa Speedway on July 10.

"We ended up third, and that's what we need to keep doing for the points lead here. We'll top-10 and top-five them to death, and the wins will come," said the driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services/Ferguson Pipe Toyota.

Justin Marks finished fourth to maintain the second position in the standings, and two-time Michigan winner Frank Kimmel was fifth.

Goess ended the race in sixth, followed by Michigan resident Chad Finley, Tim George Jr., Bryan Silas, and Robb Brent, also of Michigan.

The ARCA Racing Series Presented by RE/MAX and Menards returns to action Saturday, July 10 at Iowa Speedway, with live television coverage provided by SPEED at 9 p.m. Eastern. Live audio coverage will be available via the ARCA Racing Network on ARCARacing.com.

Craig Goess Wins Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 at Pocono

(LONG POND, Pa.) - Craig Goess assumed the lead from Mikey Kile on a series of late pit stops in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200, and held the point on the race's final restart to grab his first victory in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by RE/MAX and Menards. The win for the No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Toyota was the second consecutive at Pocono Raceway for Eddie Sharp Racing.

Kile had dominated for most of the race in the No. 25 Sears Auto Center/DieHard Toyota, losing the lead only when the 80-lap event slowed for each of its two cautions. Kile led the first 36 laps after winning the Menards Pole Award Presented by Ansell, and then led 31 laps until Goess stole the advantage away for the final nine.

"We ran pretty well the second time we came up here last year," Goess said. "We brought a different car, and it was the first time I had driven it. We knew we had a good car right off the bat in practice."

Kile had led by nearly four seconds at points throughout the first half of the race, but Goess took the lead on Lap 37 when the caution flag flew for debris. The ensuing restart saw Kile steal the point away almost immediately, but Goess then held Kile's advantage to less than a second.

The race continued uninterrupted and even featured some side-by-side action when Goess matched Kile to start Lap 55. Kile pulled away, unrelenting and not allowing Goess to make the complete green flag pass.

The second and final caution made the race for Goess, as one particular change gave him the ultimate advantage.

"My crew just made really good decisions, and the last time, they got it to where I could really come off of (Turn) 3. That's where the 25 was getting us. Outside of that, we were pretty equal. Once we got that fixed, I was able to come off. We got good track position, got in some clean air, and at that point, he wasn't catching us," Goess said.

Goess led from the green flag, which fell with five laps to go, and only increased his lead over Kile.

The win helped Goess improve two positions in the ARCA Racing Series standings, to fifth. However, the driver warned that it was too early to think about the championship race.

"(The win) keeps our momentum rolling pretty good," Goess said. "We've had some good finishes the last few races. If we can avoid some bad luck, and that happens to some other people, and not us, that'll do a lot for us in the standings. But at this point, it's really too early to speculate on that. We're going to go out and run every lap as hard as we can, just like we did today, and hope for the best."

The day was only slightly less successful for Kile, who was also in pursuit of his first ARCA win. His second-place finish after leading 67 of 80 laps was a career high.

"It definitely is bittersweet. You know, we led the most laps. We were really riding, and the guys came on the radio and said we were still pulling away," Kile said. "Man, the car was great. That last caution just fell at the right time for them and the wrong time for us."

Kile was pleased to look forward to the series' next race, at Michigan next Friday.

"You move on and run. It's a good debut for the sponsor, and we'll be taking this car to Michigan next week. We're really looking forward to that, so we'll keep our heads up high, second place, and move on to the next race," he said.

Eighteen-year-old Chad Finley matched his best career finish by placing third in the No. 29 Brad Keselowski Racing Chevrolet sponsored by Auto Value Certified Service Centers, and points leader Patrick Sheltra continued his season-opening string of top-10 finishes by placing fourth in the No. 60 Recycling Services/Ferguson Pipe Toyota.

"I think we probably had a third-place car, and that's where we ended up," Finley said. "Pocono is really unique as a triangle-shaped track. It can be hard to figure out. To come out of here third, I don't think it gets any better than that."

Sheltra's finish was his seventh top-10 in a row to start the 2010 season, and he remains the only driver with a full slate of top-10 finishes.

"It starts at the shop, and the guys are real good there," Sheltra said. "You come here and you have a struggle like we did today with the right rear going down, and nobody gave up, and that's what it takes. You've got to keep getting top-10s and top-fives. That's what we'll drive for, to not be out of the top 10."

Sheltra is the series points leader for the second consecutive week with a 25-point lead over Justin Marks, who finished seventh.

Frank Kimmel started on the front row in the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford and finished fifth, one lap off of the pace. Robb Brent, Marks, Dakoda Armstrong, Bobby Gerhart, and Tim George Jr. filled out the top 10.

17-Year-Old Chris Buescher Wins Menards 200 at Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Practice: check. Qualifying: check. The Menards 200 Presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway: Huge, emphatic, victorious check.

Chris Buescher led 126 of 200 laps in the No. 17 David Ragan Fan Club/Shriners Ford, including the final 76, to cruise to victory Sunday in the sixth race of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series Presented by RE/MAX and Menards season.

The 17-year-old Roush Fenway Racing development driver from Prosper, Texas became the 18th driver in 67 series races at the 0.5-mile oval to win from the pole, and in turn gave the Roulo Brothers yet another victory on a track that has provided much success.

"It's awesome. Unbelievable, to say the least," Buescher said. "All the guys with the Roulo Brothers team, Roush Fenway, David Ragan, my parents, my family, were backing this. To be fastest in practice, qualify on the pole, and win the race, it's an ideal weekend."

The win is Buescher's sixth top-10 finish in just nine career ARCA Racing Series starts, and his first in two starts in 2010. Buescher employed the assistance of Roush Fenway NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Ragan on the spotter's stand.

"Just like I told everybody, he's a racer," Buescher said of Ragan. "He knows exactly what needs to happen, and you understand it more when you get several points of view. He was really able to point me in the right direction."

Buescher was quick to point out, however, that his mentor from NASCAR's top ranks was not the only voice to be thanked.

"(Crew chief) Gary Roulo's on the radio just as much as my spotter. He really helped," he said.

Joey Coulter made a late charge, closing to within a half-second of the lead, before finishing as the runner-up for the second consecutive ARCA Racing Series race at Toledo.

"We just had a great car. We knew going into the race that we were going to have a good car," Coulter said. "We were patiently aggressive coming through there. I was able to keep the tires pretty good, but we just used it up there at the end."

Buescher knew Coulter was a threat; as such, he kept his focus in front of him, not on the menace in his rear window.

"I didn't look in the mirror once," Buescher said. "I didn't want to see him. They were all on the radio saying, 'Get all you can get,' so I drove the wheels off that thing."

Buescher exploded from the pole and built a sizable advantage through the first 20 laps, before the race's second caution. Veteran Ken Schrader, who was making his first ARCA start of the season, wouldn't let Buescher away on the ensuing green flag, and eventually passed the youngster on the first turn of the 51st lap.

Schrader built his lead to just under a full second, but Buescher closed in as the race neared its halfway point. Contact between Patrick Sheltra, Tim George Jr., Robb Brent, Craig Goess, and A.J. Frank brought out a red flag just after the completion of Lap 100, and Tom Hessert took the lead when Schrader drove to the pits on the yellow flag that followed.

Buescher, who had fallen to fifth off of pit road, surged back to the point, overtaking Dakoda Armstrong on the backstretch of Lap 113. A crafty backstretch crossover move would give Buescher the advantage on Lap 125, and the lead was his for good.

Hessert maintained the second position until Lap 183, when Coulter made the final pass on his surge to the front. Coulter's 1.727-second deficit to Buescher with 17 laps remaining fell to a half-car-length advantage with just five laps to go, but victory was not to be. The finish was all too familiar for Coulter, who led 70 laps at Toledo last fall before finishing second to Justin Lofton.

Hessert finished third, and Frank Kimmel and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Matt Crafton - in his first ARCA Racing Series start - filled out the top five. Schrader, Armstrong, and Sheltra were the last three drivers to finish on the lead lap, and Jerick Johnson and Mikey Kile completed the top ten. The race was slowed by ten cautions.

Ragan, who traveled to northern Ohio only this morning after finishing sixth in last night's Sprint Showdown at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, was quick to heap praise on the winning driver.

"That's a big win for myself, Gary Roulo, Roush Fenway. We'll give Jack Roush a call and let him know," Ragan said. "Chris Buescher did a nice job and he deserves it.

"It's my first win as a spotter. I guess if something doesn't work out driving, I'll have something to do. It's just a lot of fun to come back to the short track. It makes me wish I was out there but Chris did an excellent job."

Sheltra assumed the series points lead by 10 over previous leader Justin Marks, who lost ground with a flat tire late in the race. Steve Arpin, Hessert, and Kile comprise the remainder of the top five through six races.

ARCA Rookie Dakoda Armstrong Wins at Talladega

TALLADEGA AL (4-23-10) - Eighteen-year-old Dakoda Armstrong made a daring series of passes to move from sixth place with three laps remaining to a win in the Talladega ARCA 250 Friday at Talladega Superspeedway.

Armstrong, the 19th driver to win from the pole in 48 ARCA Racing Series events at Talladega, overcame leader and Alabama native Grant Enfinger as the last of 94 laps ticked away under impending dusk.

The win is Armstrong's fifth top-10 finish in 12 career ARCA Racing Series starts, and his second of the 2010 season.

"First of all, I have to thank all of my guys. We wrecked in Daytona. They put the car back together. I am so happy that I could pull in a win. With 10 to go, I thought we were going to get stuck in a ride. I have to thank the 60 car; he pushed me all the way to victory," Armstrong said.

The significance of winning at one of stock car racing's most famous tracks was not lost on the high school senior from New Castle, Ind.

"You definitely want to win at all the big tracks, where the Cup and Nationwide (Series) compete," he said.  "The way that the victory was won, a last lap pass, is something I am never going to forget. It was an incredible race for us."

Enfinger appeared primed to be the first Alabama driver to win in any event at Talladega since Davey Allison won a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on the 2.66-mile track on May 3, 1992. The 25-year-old Fairhope native led 42 consecutive laps - comprising nearly half the race's 94-lap total - but needed one more.

"It was a good run for us, even though we ended up finishing sixth," Enfinger said. "Evidently, the 22 car had an awesome run, and I just wasn't able to get in front of him (after the last lap pass). I just made it as wide as I could."

Entering the final turns with the lead, Enfinger was quickly shuffled back as Armstrong approached on the track's steep right side, the product of more than 10 laps of strategy from the eventual winner, teammate Tom Hessert (No. 77 Cherry Hill Classic Cars Dodge), and third-place finisher Tim George Jr. (No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Development Chevrolet). Together, the trio trailed lead packs of six or eight cars through the late stages of the race, all the while planning a move to the front.

In starting from the pole, Armstrong led each of the race's opening 32 laps before George assumed the advantage for 12 on a restart following the race's second caution. Armstrong dipped back to seventh by Lap 40, but again held the point at the race's halfway point, the conclusion of the 47th circuit.

Armstrong then traded the lead with Hessert before giving way to Enfinger - the eventual sixth-place finisher - on Lap 52.

A multi-car accident rattled a substantial portion of the 42-car field on Lap 50, as Mikey Kile (No. 25 Tag Heuer Eyewear Toyota) lost control and contributed to damage for Mark Thompson (No. 66 Phoenix Air Toyota), Bill Baird (No. 52 Saturn Racing Toyota), James Buescher (No. 51 Phoenix Racing Dodge), Alex Kennedy (No. 38 Great Dane Trailers Dodge), and Bryan Silas (No. 11 Rockingham Speedway-PBG Ford).

Buescher reported being at a loss when driving upon the melee.

"My spotter didn't tell me which way to go," Buescher said. "He just said, 'Good luck.' I couldn't see anywhere. Well, good luck."

Ricky Carmichael (No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet) made a tremendous slide-and-save maneuver on Lap 41, only to be caught up in the major accident less than 10 laps later.

"You don't want to bump draft in the tri-oval. It's just a shame that this car is tore up," Carmichael said. "These guys work hard; they're awesome. For a day to end like this, it is just upsetting.'

Bobby Gerhart (No. 5 Lucas Oil Chevrolet) won the season opener on another restrictor plate track, Daytona, but the checkered flag was not in the veteran driver's immediate future at Talladega. Like Carmichael, he experienced significant damage in the crash.

"We had a really good car. I thought we could win it again on fuel mileage, but this car is destroyed, unfixable. It was one of my favorite cars. We'll just have to make another one," Gerhart said.

Patrick Sheltra (No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings/Ferguson Pipe Dodge) escaped the excitement of the last lap passing to finish second, his third top-five and best finish of 2010.

"Starting out, we didn't have the greatest qualifying car, so we had to start back in the pack. We got tied up in a crash there and thought our day was done. We couldn't even catch up with the lead draft anymore," Sheltra said. "The guys came back in and worked on it. We had a late caution. (The No. 6 of Brandon McReynolds) stuck with us, pushed us up to the 22 and stayed on the outside line. We just pushed the 22 to the lead, and we ended up second.

"I didn't think we had a second place car. The whole nose was torn up. Just to come out with a second place, it was a very good day."

Craig Goess steered the No. 81 Greenville Toyota Toyota to fourth place, a success after being forced to change engines in Friday's practice.

"I think it was a pretty good day, from how we had run at superspeedways last year. We kind of just got caught up in accidents that were unavoidable. We got through the pack clean and stayed out front," Goess said.

Discussing the race's finish, Goess added: "I thought I pushed the 77 (Hessert) enough going through (Turns) 3 and 4 to get the run we needed. We didn't get going the way I thought we would. For where we started and having to change motors, it was a good day for us."

Kile was able to steer his Venturini Motorsports machine to fifth despite playing a role in the Lap 50 accident and being forced to change his engine late in Friday's opening practice.

"I was fortunate to get as little damage as we had. T.J. Majors, my spotter, is phenomenal, and he kept me calm to work through there. They had another spin there in (Turns) 3 and 4 on the last lap, and we were able to gain a lot of positions there. With the way the weekend went, with the blown motor, I am pretty pleased with the finish," Kile said.

Scott Stenzel, Hessert, Justin Marks, and Hal Martin completed the top 10. Incoming points leader Steve Arpin finished 14th, allowing Marks to take the series lead by 20 points. Sheltra, Hessert, and Kile comprise the remainder of the top five through five races.

The ARCA Racing Series moves to its home track, Toledo Speedway, on Sunday, May 23 with the running of the Menards 200 Presented by Federated Car Care. More information is available at ARCARacing.com.

Steve Arpin Wins at Texas; Canadian Driver Wins Back-To-Back ARCA Events; Claims Point Lead Headed to Talladega

FORT WORTH, TX (4-16-10) - Steve Arpin, in the Mike's Hard Lemonade Toyota, earned his second consecutive ARCA Racing Series victory Friday night, winning the Rattlesnake 150 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Arpin, who earned his first career win last Sunday at the half-mile Salem Speedway in Indiana, clinched his second win in less than a week's time after powering by Grant Enfinger off the second turn on a lap 91 restart. Arpin paced the field from there, leading the final 14 circuits around the 1.5-mile Texas tri-oval.

In the end, Arpin outran Craig Goess in a green-white-checkered overtime finish, winning by a mere .326 seconds, taking sole possession of the series championship point lead in the process.

"This is a great, great racetrack," Arpin exclaimed. "We had a really good car all night, and Hoosier gave us a super good tire. What a great way to debut our new sponsor, Mike's Hard Lemonade."

Arpin was also involved in a lap 12, four-car incident between turns three and four, where he spun with Patrick Sheltra, Joey Coulter and teammate Mikey Kile. Aprin's left front fender was slightly damaged, but his Venturini Motorsports team came through for him.

"(Car owner) Billy Venturini and the guys did an awesome job tonite," Arpin explained in victory lane. "We got ourselves in a touchy spot, spun, and the damage affected our aero a bit," Arpin continued. "The team did a great job repairing the car, and giving me a chance."

Arpin, who started 22nd, survived the mishap, and moved into the top-10 by lap 25, where he found himself for most of the night. The Canadian native took the lead on lap 92 and was unchallenged until the last lap when Goess mounted an unsuccessful bid for the top spot.

Goess finished in the runner-up position for the second straight week, and his emotions were both high and low.

"It's great to run good, to run up front, but it's disappointing to be this close and not win," Goess disclosed. "We had a little miscue in the pits, but I don't know whether we could have beat Steve tonight anyway."

Goess led 28 laps during the race before coming to pit road for his second and final pitstop for fresh Hoosier Tires 30 laps from the finish. Goess, in the Greenville Toyota of NC Toyota, came off pitroad in fifth, used the remainder of the race working his way back up to the front. On the final lap, Goess got to the back of Arpin but could not pass, settling for second.

Grant Enfinger, in the BeasleyAllen.com-Stanley Industries Ford, finished third after leading 22 circuits late in the race.

"I think we pretty much made all the right decisions today," Enfinger commented. "I pushed the car a little hard with forty to go, and I think we might have run out of tires. We were running sixth and I felt like it was time to get up there and I really didn't anticipate many guys coming back with tires. Just unfortunate that we were unable to seal the deal again, but we got some good runs in. To come home third without a scratch on the car, and we have done that all four times we have run this car at all the 1.5-mile tracks."

Justin Marks, in the Construct Corps Toyota, finished fourth after leading the first 39 laps, earning the Aaron's Lap Leader award.

"We were having engine trouble, and at the same time, the car was very, very loose," stated Nate Theisse, co-owner of Marks's Win-Tron Racing Toyota. "We over adjusted on the pitstop at halfway, got the car too tight. To finish fourth, despite all that, is a pretty good night."

Robb Brent, in the Orchard Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dodge, rounded out the top-five.

"We had a great day today," said Brent. "Our car was awesome; it was really fast. We had a little trouble - we thought an engine was going down, but it was a plug wire on our cylinder. We came in and had to restart 20th halfway throughout. We passed a lot of guys. I got Frank Kimmel and the 29 on the last restart there to get fifth, so we are really pumped. It was a good bounce back from last week."

The field for the Rattlesnake 150 was set by 2009 owner's points when Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell was rained out Thursday afternoon.

Goess earned the Messina Wildlife Halfway Challenge award, with his crew chief Johnny Allen claiming both the Cometic Crew Chief and Klotz Engine Mechaic awards. Arpin claimed the CGS Imaging Hard Charger award, advancing 21 positions. Dakoda Armstrong earned RE/MAX Rookie of the Race honors.

The event was slowed by caution eight times for 43 laps. The most serious looking incident occurred on lap 38 when Tom Berte made hard contact with the inside safer barriers off turn two in a single car spin. Berte was uninjured in the incident.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards heads to Talladega Superspeedway next for the Talladega ARCA 250 Friday, April 23, live on SPEED at 5:00 PM ET. The race will also be carried in live streaming audio at ARCAracing.com.

Arpin Wins Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 at Salem

SALEM, Ind. (4-11-10)-Steve Arpin earned his first career ARCA Racing Series victory Sunday afternoon, winning the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by ApplianceZone.com at Salem (Ind.) Speedway.

Arpin, driving the No. 55 Tag Heuer Chevrolet from the Venturini Motorsports stables, powered around the outside of Joey Coulter on lap 142 and outran a hungry field to claim the win, leading the final 57 laps. For Arpin, the Salem win was special, as it also marked the scene of owner Billy Venturini's only career win as a driver.

"Our day was pretty good!" Arpin, the Aaron's lap leader, exclaimed. "This is the place I wanted to win the most. It's just wild...the fans are right on top of you...it's just a rush driving around this place! Billy won here, and now I've won here!"

Venturini reflected on the win, "This is where I got my first win, and it was so special. Steve is like a brother. I just love him. He has been an awesome addition to this team. I thank God every day that he is a part of this program and to give him his first win was almost as emotional as my first win here."

Craig Goess, the CGS Imaging Hard Charger of the race, also posted his career best finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, earning runner-up honors. "Johnny made the adjustment to try to make the car driveable, and I think considering everything, it was a good finish for us," Goess commented. "I think that we could have had the win without that happening, but we will take second. Only one more spot to get, and I'm looking forward to Texas."

Point leader Justin Marks finished third, with defending race winner Patrick Sheltra fourth and Tom Hessert fifth. Coulter, who was completive all day, didn't have a finish that reflected his car. "The car was awesome. The guys gave me an awesome car, and anyone who watched the race saw that. Anytime I wanted to, I could just zip up to the front," Coulter commented.

As usual, the action was fast and furious on the .555 high-banked Salem oval, and the event was slowed 11 times for caution, none of them serious. The slam-bang action at the high banked Salem oval started early, as the field bunched up with an accordion-effect on lap one, causing a caution for debris.

Another yellow flag was waved on lap 15, when Brent Brevak spun in turn 3. The No. 3 Brevak Racing Dodge obtained significant front end damage. As the field went green again, Menards pole-sitter and ARCA rookie Max Gresham fell back to third, with Arpin and Coulter in the first two spots. Arpin and Coulter battled hard until lap 50, when two cars got together on the backstretch. Sixteen cars took advantage of the caution and pit for fuel and tires, while ten cars, including Arpin and Coulter, stayed out.

On lap 78, the No. 6 ApplianceZone.com Toyota of Brandon McReynolds, making his ARCA debut this weekend, pulled off the race track due to a engine problem. Lap 79 brought on another caution, as the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge and No. 89 Lafferty Performance Chevy made contact in turns 1 and 2. Robb Brent's No. 36 Dodge had major front damage. Arpin and Coulter took this opportunity to make pit stops, with eight other lead lap cars.

As the field went green on lap 86, Patrick Sheltra led the field in his No. 60 Buffalo Wings and Rings Dodge. As halfway approached, Coulter got into Nick Igdalsky in turn 3. Igdalsky's No 1 ModSpace Ford slammed into the outside wall, resulting in significant damage to the right front. Coulter was on a hard charge when the green flag dropped on lap 103, picking up six spots in six laps and taking the lead in 13 laps. The bad day continued for Igdalsky, cutting a right front tire, he hit the turn 2 wall. The No. 1 car, again, received damage on the right front. Coulter stayed out, when 13 cars took advantage of the caution for pit stops.

Coulter's lead was challenged again by Arpin, with Arpin taking the lead on lap 142. His lead did not last long under green flag conditions, as his teammate Mikey Kile got into the wall in turn 4. Kile's No.25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota stalled on the frontstretch and had severe damage on the right front. The field once again slowed for a yellow when the No. 14, 48 and 47 got together and spun in turn 3.

As the field went back to green, Arpin got to a good start and a sizeable lead. Working his way back to the front, Coulter and RE/MAX Rookie of the Race Dakoda Armstrong made contact and spun into the turn 3 wall. Coulter's fast racecar received heavy damage to his racecar, and he settled for a disappointing 14th place finish. Four laps later, Alli Owens, Bryan Silas and Chris Buescher got together in turn 2. The last caution of the day occurred on lap 186, as Coulter made contact with the inside wall of the backstretch. As the checkers fell with Arpin in the lead, a battle was heating up for the top-5. Coming out of turn 4, Sheltra got into the turn 4 wall but caught the car to get a fourth place finish.

Seventeen cars survived the 11 cautions and were running at the end - ten were on the lead lap. Of the five drivers making their ARCA Racing Series debut, Gresham finished the highest in sixth place.
