Bobby
competed in go-cart starting at eight years old and was the 1993 and 1995
Kentucky State Champion. He then progressed to the late model ranks at
Highland Rim (TN) Speedway and was a regular fixture at Louisville (KY)
Speedway in 1999. In his rookie season in 2000, Bobby finished 14th in the
standings and had six top-ten finishes. In 2001, he finished 10th in the
standings with seven top tens. Bobby placed 15th in the 2002 standings,
grabbing his first pole, two top-five finishes and five top-10s.
The 2003 Season was
their first attempt at running the full schedule and obviously it paid off.
Much like last year's Champion, Family was a big key to their success.
The father and son were a great pair, but lets be honest, Mom was the real
heart and soul of this team...and the brains. And just like last Year's
champion, a legendary mentor played a key part. But this year's champion
was also different. When the chips were down, he would show up big.
If you are going to win a Championship...how better to do it than open the
season with your first career victory. He established himself right then
as a contender and never shied away. In the middle of the year, facing
the toughest test in his Championship chase at the Anderson 400, he took the
victory over his mentor. And at the season ending Winchester 400, when
the title was on the line, problems in the pits looked like they would take
the Championship away. But this team would not give up and came back
from being a lap down two different times in the race. Now late in the
race, and only needing a good finish to secure the Championship, they wouldn't
settle for riding around and charged to the front to win the prestigious
Winchester 400 and the Sunoco Super Series Championship in one shining moment.
It was a great season for his team. During the year they recorded one
fast time and qualified in the Top Five 7 times. They led all teams with
10 Top 5 finishes and 13 Top 10's and completed over 90% of the laps this
season... Also a series best...
And they were the series best for 2003!
