DARF Schedules Thirteen Events in June

Dayton, OH. (5/27) - The Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club (DARF) has scheduled one of the busiest month's in the history of the forty plus year old organization as members will have an opportunity to choose from thirteen scheduled events in June.
  It will be a variety of tracks and events starting off on Friday night, June 6,  at Limaland Motorsports Park where admission will be half off for DARF members.
  June 7 they will have their choice of three different racing venues in three different states, another first for the club. For the Michigan area members it will be free admission at the Flat Rock, Michigan Speedway. The egg-shaped Mt.Lawn Speedway near New Castle, Indiana will offer free admission to members on that same night while Shady Bowl Speedway near DeGraff, Ohio will also offer free admission for members.
  June 14 Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio will offer a $10 admission to DARFers to witness the USAC Sprints, NRA sprint invaders, and Advance Auto Parts stock cars.
  The following week-end Friday June 20 offers the members their choice of dirt or asphalt racing as Moler Raceway Park near Williamsburg, Ohio will offer half-off admission while the asphalt Toledo Speedway at Toledo, Ohio offers free admission.
  Again, the next night, June 21, the members have a choice of dirt or asphalt as the newly renovated Lawrenceburg Indiana Speedway offers half-off with the asphalt Columbus Motor Speedway admitting the fans for free.
  The following afternoon the KOIL Legends take over the Columbus Motor Speedway and it will be free admission for their special event.
  It's back to dirt track racing on June 27 as both Gas City I-69 Speedway near Gas City, Indiana and Bloomington, Indiana's Bloomington Speedway both offer half-off their general admission for DARF members.
  Closing out the month and back to Eldora Speedway on June 28 will be a big day for the DARF members. The second annual picnic at the Eldora Ballroom will be held between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. offering choice of hamburger or hot dog along with baked beans, cole slaw, chips, pop or water and it will be free to DARF members and also available to non-members for just $3.
  Then that evening DARF members will be admitted for just $10 for the Ohio Sprint Speedweek finale along with the modifieds and stock cars.
  With the ever rising cost of gas, race fans are encouraged and invited to save money on admissions at some of the finest race tracks in the tri-state area by joining the DARF organization. A twelve month membership is just $15 for a single or $20 per couple which entitles members to take advantage of the above track dates plus many more yet this season.

DARF Visits Shady Bowl Saturday

Dayton, OH (4/7) - The members of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club (DARF) will have their first track date of the season this Saturday night, April 12, when Shady Bowl Speedway promoters Charlie Stapleton and Jeff Herron host the members to a free night of racing.
  Members will be admitted free to the grandstands by showing their current membership card at the gate to witness the Modifieds, Late Models, Pro 4's, Sport Stocks, Compacts, and DWARF cars on the three-tenths mile asphalt oval with racing starting at 7 p.m.
  Fans are encouraged to join the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club to take advantage of the many track dates scheduled this season where admission is either free, half off,  or at a reduced rate.
  Annual dues are just $15 for a single membership or $20 per couple which can result in saving several hundred dollars on admissions. Applications are available on line at www.darfnews.com or by calling membership secretary Linda Berry at 937 698-2237.
  The next DARF track date will be at Kil-Kare Speedway on April 18 with free admission followed by Moler Raceway Park on April 25 with admission at half-off and the following night it will be free admission at 35 Raceway Park.
  Racing enthusiast are invited to attend the last winter meeting of DARF on April 22 which will feature former ESPN "Thunder" announcers Larry Rice and Gary Lee which is affectingly known as the Larry and Gary show. The event starts at 7 p.m. at The Flats, corner of Rip Rap and Fishburg Roads in Dayton.

 

Waynesfield Motor Sports Park Schedules Two DARF Dates

Dayton, OH (3/31) - Waynesfield Motor Sports Park officials have invited the members of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club for two nights of exciting racing on their quarter-mile dirt oval.

  On Saturday night, May 31, the non-wing sprint cars, 600 mini sprints, and 4-cylinder trucks will provide the action while on July 5 the 360 wing sprints, 600 mini sprints, UMP modifieds, and 4-cylinder trucks will be action.

  All current DARF members will be admitted at half off the regular admission price to the grandstands with the gates opening at 4 p.m., hot laps 6 p.m., and racing at 7 p.m. both dates.

Race Cars and Future Stars Expo
Piqua, Ohio – Sunday, March 23, 2008

    Race fans can eliminate the winter blues this weekend by visiting the 5th annual Race Cars and Future Stars Expo at the Miami Valley Center Mall where a mall full of racecars will be on display.
    All types of racing machines will be on display including dirt and asphalt, round track and straight-line cars. Highlighting the show will be a car formerly driven by NASCAR star Ryan Newman. The vast collection of New Bremen Speedway memorabilia by New Bremen's Dave Kramer will bring back many memories of the former track. Also of interest will be a recently discovered midget that had been tucked away in a garage for some fifty years.
   Vendors will have collectables available, several racetracks will have information available and many drivers will be seen strolling throughout the mall.
    The show starts on Thursday, March 27 and runs through Sunday March 30.
    Naturally being in a mall there is not an admission charge however there will be various opportunities to purchase tickets for door prizes with proceeds going to the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club's injured drivers fund. DARF will be present to explain the benefits of belonging to their organization.

DARF To Present "Meet The Promoter" Night

    The March 25th meeting of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club will feature the annual "Meet The Promoter" night, a night for race fans to meet the promoters of many area race tracks. It will also be a time to learn of the the plans for the upcoming racing season and a chance to ask the promoters questions.
   All racing enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the meeting which will be held at The Flats, corner of Rip Rap and Fishburg Roads in Dayton starting at 7 p.m.
   Annual membership in DARF which entitles members to attend some fourteen Midwest tracks at reduced or free admission is just $15 for a single or $20 for a couple which also includes two free picnics, one at Eldora Speedway on June 14 and Shady Bowl Speedway September 20. Langs/DARF Car Show This Week-End

    The Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club will have their annual "Toy's For Kid's" charity race car show at Langs Chevrolet  this week-end,  March 8&9. The event provides gifts at Christmas time for needy children in the area with all proceeds going for that purpose.
   All types of racing machines will be on display including sprint cars, late models, modifieds, midgets, stock cars, legend cars, dwarf cars, go karts, drag cars, compacts plus a special vintage display room.
   Complimenting the vintage racecar room in addition to race cars of former years will be a vast display of the history of the New Bremen Speedway along with a display representing Winchester (Ind.) Speedway.
   Vendors will also be selling racing items including die cast, shirts, caps, jackets, and other racing related items.
   Ronald McDonald will be present the greet the fans young and old with is ever present smile.
  
And on Saturday,March 8,  the talking Little Flagger character will be available along with the Little Flagger mascot so kids bring your camera and get your picture with Little Flagger. Marilyn Millis, creator and producer of the Little Flagger will be present and will be offering a DARF car show special. Usually retailing for $29.95, the little talking flagman will be offered Saturday only at just $20 with $5 from each sale going to the DARF Injured Drivers Fund.
   
Also on display for the first time to the public will be a vast collection of nearly sixty Jebco racing clocks from the personal collection of former driver Don Wilbur, some of which are one of a kind. Jebco has donated one clock that will be awarded as a door prize.
   Food will be available both days so plan on spending the day reminiscing among the cars and drivers that will be present.
   Show hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on March 8 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 9. Admission is by donation of $5 per adult, $3 for seniors and free to kids. Langs Chevrolet is located on St. Rt. 35 and Orchard Lane in Beavercreek.

DARF Adds Columbus Motor Speedway to Schedule

     The Nuckles family who have operated the famed Columbus Motor Speedway for some sixty years have extended an invitation to the members of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club to visit their track on June 21.
    All current DARF members will be admitted free of charge to the grandstands to witness the action on the third-mile paved oval which will see the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models, Columbus Modifieds, Sport Stocks, Crazy Compacts, and the KOIL Tour Legend Cars.
    Gates will open at 5 p.m. followed by time trials at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

DARF Presents Legends In Racing

The February 25 meeting of the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club will feature Legends In Racing, individuals who have been an important part in area racing throughout the years.
    All racing enthusiasts are invited to attend the meeting which will be held at The Flats, corner of Rip Rap Road and Fishburg Road in Dayton starting at 7 p.m.
    Already on the schedule for the panel discussion are Wayne Watercutter, Ed Hounshell, John Philipot, Carroll Hargis, Dave Sceva, Bill Ashworth, Roger Winget, and Earl Isaacs with others to be added.

DARF Adds Gas City I-69 Speedway To Schedule

    The list of track dates for the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club is starting to grow at a rapid pace as Gas City I-69 Speedway has scheduled three dates for the club members.
    DARF will visit the quarter-mile dirt oval near Gas City, Indiana on three occasions this season with the first date being June 27 followed by August 1 and August 22.
    All DARF members will be admitted at half price to the grandstands on these dates by merely showing their current DARF membership card.

    Gas City now joins Moler Raceway Park and 35 Raceway Park in scheduling DARF track dates.
