Hahn Dominates ARCA Truckers at Flat Rock; Helps Find Missing Kids

FLAT ROCK MI (5-31-08) – ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Paul Hahn dominated the Heritage Newspapers 100 Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway.

Outside of a brief challenge from Steve Christman early on, Hahn, in the no. 7 Hahn’s Powder Coating-Fox Auto Parts-Howe Racing Chevrolet Colorado, crossed the final stripe a half-lap in front of his closest competitor to earn his 18th career victory in his 80th series start.

“We had a great truck; I can’t thank the crew enough,” said Hahn, who hails from nearby Canton, Michigan. “It’s great to come back to Flat Rock. I grew up at this track so this is a hometown victory for me.”

The win also represented Hahn’s third consecutive series victory at Flat Rock and third consecutive series victory in 2008.

In addition to earning the Bilstein Lap Leader honors for leading 78 of 100 laps, Hahn also picked up the 2BKool Pole Award and left town with the series point lead.

“Last year, we got too wrapped up in the championship. This year, I told myself I’m just going to go out and give it my all and go for the win; and that’s exactly what we’re doing. I think we’re also leading the points now, so it must be working all the way around.”

Hahn’s victory also puts him just six wins shy of Chad Guinn’s all-time series win total of 24.

Hahn started the race from outside row three after an inversion of six and slipped underneath Christman off turn two for the lead on lap 12. However, Hahn’s lead was short-lived after Christman maneuvered inside of Hahn in lapped traffic to lead the 21st lap. But once Hahn regrouped, the former series tracked down Christman and reclaimed the lead on lap 32. From there, Hahn continuously pulled away from the pack.

Christman, in the no. 19 Bagman Racing Chassis-R&B Fabrication Chevrolet, finished second after making an unscheduled pit stop just past the halfway point. Christman rejoined the field from the tail-end and charged through the pack in the outside groove but could do nothing with Hahn, who was already long gone.

TJ Stineman finished third for the second consecutive race in his own no. 89 Front Row Fab-Cool World Thermal Barriers Dodge Dakota ahead of two-time series champion Bill Withers, who finished fourth in his no. 57 Mannings USA-Tubular Techniques-Hall Electronics Ford Ranger. Mike Young, in the no. 23 Dave White Chevrolet, finished fifth, the last truck on the lead lap.

Norm Weaver, Duane Bischoff, Brad Yunker, Robbin Slaughter and Casite Rookie of the Year contender Kenny Kirsch completed the top-10 respectively. Kirsch, who started 17th in the field of 20, also earned the Ed & Company Hard Charger Honors for advancing the most positions.

Ron Wells led the first eight laps before his transmission failed.

The next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series is Friday, June 13th at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio.

Outside of Thrill of Victory, Hahn's Win Holds Extra Special Meaning.......

Hahn's Chevy Colorado was emblazoned with an image of 16-year-old Sheniesha Kennedy, who has been missing from the Detroit area since February 26th.

Sheniesha's mother Sheilah Kennedy and family made the trip to the track to witness the momentous victory.

"I'm so glad Sheniesha's mom and family could be here tonight. I hope in some small way we were able to help - to make a difference. I have children of my own and can't imagine having to cope with one of them disappearing," added Hahn. "This is just our small way of helping families experiencing this type of crisis.

Hahn, along with his father and team owner Paul Hahn, joined forces with the Wayne County Sheriff's Missing & Exploited Children's Task Force and Martin Gray, the Director of the Search for the Missing Children's Foundation, in an effort to find Sheniesha, whose case was featured by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Gray added, "Increased public awareness is our best chance of recovering children like Sheniesha. My hope is that someone will see her picture and call in the tip that will help Sheriff Evans reunite her with her family. Someone out there knows where she is and the Sheriff's office needs to hear from them."

Hahn's truck featured images of Sheniesha on the hood and side panels, along with phone numbers for the Sheriff's office and NCMEC.

"When the leads dry up, we have to try new things to reinvigorate our cases," Sheriff Evans said. "Mr. Gray's approach certainly is an attention getter, not only at the race itself, but through the media coverage it generates for these cases."

Veteran Paul Hahn Wins Champion Credit Union 50 at Toledo Speedway

TOLEDO OH (5-17-08) - ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Paul Hahn looked every bit the part Saturday afternoon at Toledo Speedway.

The Canton, Michigan driver, in the no. 7 Hahn’s Powder Coating-Fox Auto Parts-Howe Racing Chevrolet, led the final 32 circuits en route to winning the Champion Credit Union 50.

“We were on a rail out there,” said Hahn. “The truck was working so well; I could hug the white line when I needed too. It’s nice to be finally turning our luck around. Can’t wait to go to Flat Rock to make it three in a row.”

Once Hahn cleared rookie Kenny Kirsch on lap 19 of the 50-lap main event, he had nary a challenger as he sped off to his 17th career series victory and second consecutive series triumph.

Kirsch, in the Kirsch’s Automotive Service Center Chevrolet, finished a career-best second.

“We were just too tight,” said Kirsch. “We couldn’t hold the bottom and that kept opening the door for Paul (Hahn). But we learned a lot, and we’ll be better next time. I really like this track. Can’t wait to come back.”

Kirsch spent much of the race fending off TJ Stineman who finished third in the Front Row Fab-Cool World Thermal Barriers Dodge, also a career-best for the Lagrange, Ohio driver.

Nick Gullatta charged from the tail-end to finish fourth in the Thomson Automotive-Mr. Heater-Enerco Chevrolet. Gullatta also earned the 2BKool Pole Award and moved into the point lead.

Local Toledo, Ohio driver Mike Young finished fifth in the Dave White Chevrolet.

Outside polesitter Robbin Slaughter jumped into the lead at the onset before Kirsch took control of the top-spot on lap four. Kirsch managed to hold off Hahn for 15 circuits before Hahn made his winning pass off turn four.

Steve Christman ran second for much of the race before the Fort Wayne, Indiana driver fell out with mechanical woes on lap 39. Christman fell from the point lead as a result.

Brad Yunker finished sixth in the Owens Community College-Champion Credit Union Chevrolet with Norm Weaver trailing in seventh in the Dan Cava Toyota-Safety Clean-Lifeguard Medical Toyota. Weaver, who started 19th, also earned the Ed & Company Hard Charger Award.

Ash Hawkins finished eighth. Duane Bischoff and Mark Otting finished ninth and 10th respectively, the last two trucks on the lead lap.

The next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be the Heritage Newspapers 100 at Flat Rock Speedway May 31st.

Veteran Paul Hahn Hurries to ARCA Truck Triumph on Tough Kentucky Quarter-Mile

SPARTA KY (5-10-08) – Canton, Michigan’s Paul Hahn steered the no. 7 Hahn’s Powder Coating-Fox Auto Parts-Howe Racing Chevy Colorado to victory lane Saturday afternoon at Kentucky Speedway, earning his 16th career ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series triumph in the Lincoln Welders 100.

After following race leader Rob Jones for much of the way, the former series champion slipped underneath Jones for the lead in turns one and two on lap 59 and led the final 41 circuits.

“We actually got lucky on this one,” said Hahn from victory lane. “We were losing power the entire race. The motor was hot and I had to run the fan. It finally lost all power at the finish. We just made it. All the guys did a real good job out there. Rob (Jones) slipped up high and I was able to get underneath him. I’d like to thank my crew – my dad, Rex, Steve; they earned this one. This is a tough little track; it’s hard on equipment.”

After leading the first 59 laps, Jones, in the R&B Contractors Chevrolet, finished a career-best second, five lengths away from Hahn.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win it, but I’m still real glad we finished second. Our right-front was completely worn out. I lost my brakes halfway in. I’m worn out. I was very glad to see the checkered flag. We were actually lucky to finish second. I’d like to congratulate Paul; he raced me clean all the way. It was great racing with Steve (Christman) too. He’s one heck of a wheelsman.”

Steve Christman, in the Bagman Racing Chassis-R&B Fabrications Chevrolet, swapped the second position back and forth much of the way with Jones before settling into the third finishing position.

Nick Gullatta, who earned the 2BKool Pole Award earlier in the day, finished fourth in the Thomson Automotive-Mr. Heater-Enerco Chevrolet.

Norm Weaver, in his own Dan Cava Toyota-Safety Clean-Lifeguard Medical Toyota, battled back from an early off-track excursion to finish fifth.

Two-time series champion Robbin Slaughter finished sixth in an unsponsored Chevy with Mike Young, the last truck on the lead lap, trailing in seventh in the Dave White Chevrolet. Slaughter also earned the Ed & Company Hard Charger honors.

Ashley Hawkins, Ron Wells and Duane Bischoff finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively, all one lap down.

The next race for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be the Champion Credit Union 50 at Toledo Speedway Saturday afternoon, May 17th. The 50-lap race serves as the show-opener for the next-day ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 presented by Federated Car Care.

Nick Gullatta Charges to ARCA Truck Win at Winchester

WINCHESTER IN (5-4-08) – ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Nick Gullatta, in the Thomson Automotive-Mr. Heater-Enerco Chevy Colorado, turned in a near-perfect performance Sunday afternoon at Winchester Speedway with a convincing victory in the Lincoln Welders 50-lap main event.

The Cleveland, Ohio driver earned the 2BKool Pole Award earlier in the day, then charged from the 10th starting position and tracked down Ron Wells in the closing stages to earn his fifth series victory in his 25th series start.

Wells, in the Oakley Blacktop-Tanner HVAC-Muffler Brothers Chevy, had to settle for second after leading 18 laps.

Wells jumped into the lead at the onset and led the first 10 circuits before Rob Jones drove underneath for the top-spot in turns three and four. Jones pulled out to a comfortable lead and appeared to be on his way to his career-first win before the rear-end broke on a lap 30 restart after leading 20 laps. That gave the lead back to Wells who stretched the advantage to five lengths while Gullatta, who started 10th by inversion, worked his way into second. On lap 36, Gullatta got underneath Wells down the backstretch, setting up a great side-by-side battle for the lead. The two trucks raced door to door for two full laps before Gullatta completed the pass to lead the 39th lap. From there, Gullatta stretched his advantage to three lengths by the time the front-runners crossed under the checkered flag.

Frank Wilson, Jr. finished third in the Dan Cava Toyota-Safety Clean-Lifeguard Medical Ford.

Veteran Steve Christman raced from a lap down to finish fourth in the Bagman Racing Chassis-R&B Fabrication Chevy.

Nathan Trepkowski finished a career-best fifth in the B&J Auto Center-Ubly Auto Supply Chevy.

Defending champion Bill Withers finished sixth in the Mannings USA-Tubular Techniques-Hall Electronics Ford. Tim Schafer was seventh in the Sprinkler Fitters Union 669-Baird Brothers Saw Mill Chevy. Schafer, who started 18th, also earned the Ed & Company Hard Charger award for advancing the most positions. Two-time series champion Robbin Slaughter finished eighth in an unsponsored Chevy. Ashley Hawkins and Mike Young completed the top-10 finishers respectively.

The next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be the Lincoln Welders 100 on the Kentucky Speedway quarter mile next Saturday afternoon, May 10th. The ARCA RE/MAX Series will join the Lincoln Welders Truck Series as the featured attraction on the adjoining 1.5-mile superspeedway for a same-day ARCA double header.

Steve Christman Earns Career-First ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series Victory at Anderson

ANDERSON IN (4-19-08) – ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Steve Christman, in the no. 19 Bagman Racing Chassis-R&B Fabrication Chevy S-10, led flag to flag Saturday night at Anderson Speedway to win the season opening Lincoln Welders 100.

Christman, debuting the new Bagman Chassis, started second, jumped into the lead at the onset and held the point to the very end.

However, Christman’s victory did not come without serious effort as Rob Jones, in his own no. 39 R&B Contractors Chevrolet, pressured the eventual winner continuously over the course of the 100-lap race. With 10 laps remaining, Jones charged underneath Christman through turn one, but got loose on the bottom coming off turn two. By the time Jones gathered it back up, former series champion Paul Hahn slipped underneath for the second position. Hahn, in the no. 7 Hahn’s Collision-Fox Auto Parts-Howe Racing Chevrolet, got within three lengths of Christman but could not close the gap enough to mount a significant challenge. As a result, Hahn finished second with Jones trailing in third.

2BKool Pole Award winner Robbin Slaughter, in his own no. 1 unsponsored Chevrolet, started the race in fourth after the four-truck inversion and finished fourth. Defending and two-time series champion Bill Withers, who started ninth, finished fifth in the no. 57 Mannings USA-Tubular Techniques-Hall Electronics-Wachholz Ford Ranger.

Series veteran Ron Wells, the last driver on the lead lap, finished sixth in the no. 6 Oakley Blacktop-Tanner HVAC-Muffler Brothers Chevy with 2006 and 2007 championship runner-up driver Nick Gullatta trailing in seventh in the no. 31 Thomson Automotive-Mr. Heater-Enerco Chevy. Norm Weaver finished eighth in the no. 21 Dan Cava Toyota-Safety Clean-Lifeguard Medical Toyota. Mark Otting steered the no. 00 Mycogen-Archbold Elevators Chevy to the finish in ninth. Otting, who started 15th, was also awarded the Ed & Company Hard Charger honors for advancing the most positions. Ashley Hawkins completed the top10 finishers in the no. 16 Hawkins Racing Chevy.

The next race for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be a 50 lap main event at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, May 4th.
