Lucas
Oil Products to sponsor Schmidt entry
Indianapolis, Indiana -
Friday, February 4, 2005
By indyracing.com
Lucas Oil Products will be the primary sponsor of the Sam Schmidt Motorsports
car driven by Travis
Gregg in the Menards Infiniti Pro Series in 2005.
“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Forrest
and Charlotte Lucas, which began at the 2004 Indianapolis 500,” team owner Sam
Schmidt said. “Lucas Oil is known worldwide for its high quality line of
additives and we are proud to represent the company’s first sponsorship in the
Menards Infiniti Pro Series. We will work very hard to make it productive for
them both on and off the track through new business relationships.”
Based in Southern California, Lucas Oil Products is one of
the fastest growing additive lines in the consumer automotive industry. It
offers a premium line of oils, greases and problem-solving additives that have
firmly established the company as a prominent figure in the heavy duty,
agricultural, marine, automotive and racing industries.
Through innovative product research and development, along
with aggressive marketing programs, Lucas Oil Products has established itself as
the top-selling additive line in the auto part retailers and American truck stop
markets.
“Growing up in Indiana and actually racing a few times
myself, I never would have dreamed I would be able to be a primary sponsor of a
team at this level of American open-wheel racing,” Forrest Lucas said. “We
focus a great deal of our marketing and advertising efforts towards motorsports.
"This avenue has proven highly successful for our
company and with this new involvement with last year’s championship team and Travis
Gregg, Lucas Oil Products will be brought to a whole new level of
accomplishments.”
Gregg, who competed in three races for the team in 2004,
started his first-ever race in the series from the pole and finished second in
the season finale at Texas.
Lucas Oil also will be an associate sponsor on the team’s
other entries driven by Chris
Festa and Jaime
Camara.

Gregg Secures Sam Schmidt
Motorsports Ride
Indianapolis,
Indiana - Tuesday, January 4, 2005
By indyracing.com
Travis
Gregg will drive for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the IRL Menards Infiniti Pro
Series™ in 2005.
Gregg, 26, from Camden, Ohio, contested three races with the
team in 2004. He debuted at Kentucky where he qualified on the pole position and
led 57 laps before finishing fifth. Gregg also started on the front row at
Chicagoland and Texas and finished the season with a second-place finish.
“We are very pleased to add Travis to our team for 2005,”
said team owner Sam Schmidt, who will also field a car for Chris
Festa in 2005.
“With his past racing experience and his excellent
performances with us last year, the crew is looking forward to contending for
the championship. Travis honed his skills and gained sufficient confidence to
compete for victories immediately. In addition, I believe Travis and Chris will
make excellent teammates due to their varied backgrounds, but similar driving
styles.”
Gregg began racing go-karts at age 7, raced Formula Atlantics
in the late 1990s and spent the past few years racing sprint cars on dirt tracks
in the Midwest before testing and racing with Sam Schmidt Motorsports last
season.
“With the three races last year, learning from driving
legends like Rick Mears and testing this winter, I feel we are prepared to win
races and the championship,” Gregg said. “The team is fantastic, and I feel
like we can pick up right where we left off at Texas. I’m looking forward to
the tests at Homestead and Phoenix with the other series participants.”
Sam Schmidt Motorsports captured the Menards Infiniti Pro
Series championship in 2004 with Thiago
Medeiros. The team recorded six wins, nine pole positions and led 645 of 850
laps in 12 races.

Wins
pole at Kentucky Speedway
IN His VERY First Race !!!
Seven
rookies will take the track at Kentucky Speedway on Aug. 14 for the IRL Menards
Infiniti Pro Series™ Kentucky 100. While six of those rookies have competed in
previous events this season, Travis Gregg will make his series debut in the No.
5 Sam Schmidt Motorsports Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone.
Gregg, 26, hails from Camden, Ohio, which is less than two
hours from the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in Sparta.
“Travis tested with us twice,” said Michael Crawford,
team manager for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. “He tested with us in the fall of
2003 in Las Vegas, and he was fantastic. We were really, really pleased with his
comfort and skills in the car. He was outstanding. He tested with us again on
May 1. We really had fun with him. He’s a really likeable fellow. We think
he’ll do well in Kentucky, and we have high hopes for him in the future.”
Gregg began racing go-karts when he was 7 years old and moved
into SCCA Formula Atlantics for two seasons in the late 1990s. He’s spent the
past several years racing sprint cars on dirt tracks primarily in Indiana. He
recorded two feature wins at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway.
“I’m going to try and make it a learning weekend,”
Gregg said of his plans for his first race weekend in a Menards Infiniti Pro
Series car. “We still want to try and be fast, but we don’t want to jump
ahead of ourselves and get into trouble. You can see that worked well with P.J.
Chesson who was able to win in his fourth race.”
